WHAT IS WILDERDANCE?

Wilderdance is mindful movement. 

It encourages growth and healing through awareness and acknowledgement, and it inspires emotional expression through movement.

 

Wilderdancing is about connection and empowerment.

 

Your Wilderdance journey begins with a gentle yoga warm up and some internal reflection.  Slow and deliberate movement will guide you to an awareness of yourself and of your environment. Free movement aids physical relief from tension and stored emotion, and helps forge a strong and steady path to your mountain.  Your mountain lies deep within you, and it can be difficult to navigate the urban wilderness that is life, to find it. Wilderdance encourages you to venture within and explore your heart space.

 

The reflective and movement process is for everybody.  The Adventurous, the Anxious, the Shy, the Curious, the Abled, and the Disabled - every body. Although loosely guided,  your Wilderdance is very much YOUR experience.  Mountain is sought, not taught.

 

No fancy dance skills required,  just bring the feels and the desire.

WHY WILDERDANCE?

Everyday life is demanding; of your time, your concentration, your body, and most of all, your emotions - your feelings.  Sometimes it can be difficult to carve out some space for yourself amongst it all, and to just hit pause. The noise of life can be so loud at times, and hitting pause enables you to turn that volume way down.

 

Taking the time to acknowledge your feelings and how they effect you,  with the purpose of quietening your body and mind, is important and invaluable.

 

Wilderdance provides you with that space, so you can find your mountain and stand atop it - boldly and courageously. 

 

Finding your mountain allows space for observation, and space to think. It encourages you to discover a stillness and to simply sit with the quietness within you.

Wilderdancing builds and strengthens the neural-pathways that enable you to transition between free and focused movement seamlessly, and on cue.  With practice, these pathways allow a seamless transition from free to focused thought as well. 

 

Once you’ve strengthened your Wilderdance practice, you can apply this focus, stillness, and quietness to your everyday life.  This practice empowers you to measure your emotions and respond accordingly - both intellectually and physically.

A simplified but certainly not dumbed-down version for little explorers.

Perfect for private parties or for a school incursion with a difference.

FOR DANCERS

These workshops are designed to open the heart-space of the accomplished dancer and encourage a deeply personal interpretation of the music
